Our Story: Windsor Point Retirement Community
Over 40 years ago...
Riley and Margaret Evans, a farmer and school teacher, built a small rest home and several small houses in Bladen County to meet the needs of aging neighbors. They had 5 children, all of whom attended North Carolina Universities and settled in North Carolina with their families. In each of their children, they instilled the same desire to provide affordable, quality health care and housing to seniors. Riley and Margaret’s children have worked hard to continue their parents’ dream and have developed numerous communities that provide exceptional health care and housing to seniors today.
The need for a Continuing Care Retirement Community was introduced to the family by request from many of their residents. The residents wanted to be able to live in a community run by the Evans family without having to move to a different community if their health needs changed. After careful research and many visits to other continuing care retirement communities in the area, the family decided to heed the request of their residents and their families.
The Evans family looked into several small towns around North Carolina and decided that Fuquay-Varina was a great place to build. It was small, but convenient to all the resources of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. In 1995, they bought 17 acres on Highway 55 and Wilbon Road. In less than a year, they had land, plans, financing, start-up certificate from the Department of Insurance, and their first resident.
Since 1995, we have welcomed many new faces to the Windsor Point family and continue to do so. Windsor Point has become the best kept secret in the Triangle!
...and the rest is history!
